4th Avenue Signals and Lighting Upgrade - E Street to A Street

Client: Municipality of Anchorage, Project Management and Engineering Department

PTS Services:

  • Design Review

  • Construction Inspection

PTS assisted the Municipality of Anchorage, Project Management and Engineering Department with design reviews and day-to-day construction inspection in 2021. PTS continued to provide construction inspection in the 2022 construction season and assisted with project closeout.

The 4th Avenue project will upgrade street and pedestrian lighting and traffic signals by replacing deteriorating and substandard lighting and signal poles, foundations, junction boxes, conduit, wiring, load centers, and traffic controller cabinets. The new energy-efficient LED street lighting and signal equipment will improve lighting levels and quality, reduce future maintenance and operations, improve operational reliability, conform to current standards and codes, and improve safety. In addition, the project will address an aging storm drain system, and improve pedestrian accessibility by replacing sidewalk and curb ramps to meet current ADA guidelines and improve the public streetscape to create a vibrant, walkable, and winter-friendly environment.
